Penny Hill Bank

The combined efforts of BC Branch and local people spent Sunday cutting scrub.  This to improve habitat for Dingy Skipper.  Penny Hill is one of our best sites for this species in Worcestershire.

Honeybourne Work Party

Despite the cold and snow a gang of 9 volunteers went to Honeybourne today to cut vegetation on the old railway line.  All this for the rare Grizzled Skipper.

Attention West Midland Transect Walkers

Attention Transect Walkers – I have downloaded the 2016 data from the UKMBS.  So far we have data on 42 Transect and 41,000 butterflies recorded.  Last year we had 70 Transect and 80,000 butterflies recorded.  I would like to do an analysis for the “Comma Magazine”,  so will anyone with data still to enter please do so.  If you have any problems with the website do contact me.

Blackthorn Cutting

RH_PanoramalrA gang of enthusiasts met today at Stock Green to coppice Blackthorn for Brown Hairstreak.  The wood looked great with loads of butterflies – Silver-Washed Fritillary, Purple Hairstreak.  Brown Argus and Common and Holly Blues.
